A few factors come to play:
1. Do you have a job?
2. Are you living alone?
3. Are you paying any bill at all by yourself?
If No is the answer to these, then get situated first before thinking about credit. Once situated, plop some bills in your name and consistently pay those up.
Then if you can, get a secured credit card (AKA, you put money down eg $500) and use like a credit card… it builds your credit.
