Me: THANK YOU SO MUCH for “speaking out” BS

Can you give us some pointers on how you achieved this goal? What worked for you?

BS: Whheeewwww Chile!!!

So what I have done is arranged all my debts from smallest to largest… (I think I did this for only my student loans) and then I realized, well my car loan is also a debt!…

When I got engaged, my fiance and I talked about saving aggressively for the wedding and quickly going back to paying off debt. So between May & October, I paid only the minimum on my debt (student loans and car note… well slightly above the minimum, for example if student loan payment was $325/month, I paid $350 and directed the slight overpayment to my lowest balance)

Me: 👏🏾🙌🏾

What happened between May & October ?

BS: I was aggressive saving for the wedding…I was just piling up cash

Then I needed to knock a few things out by the end of the year… I saw my car note was remaining about @$2500 in October so I said between October and December, I wanna pay off my next smallest student loan which was $2700 and my car note… and boom… car note gone

My thing was setting small but attainable goals

Between January and May… I set goals to pay off my smallest student loans

October to December, back to knocking “stuff” out the park

This whole year.. I have been so much more financially responsible than ever before LOL I even treated myself and bought my new phone for myself for my birthday… Cash down

And honestly… at least 4 – 5 times a week, I listen to the Dave Ramsey podcast… getting motivated by folks hollering that they are debt free, getting ideas from people as to how they knocked out their debt.

At a point earlier this year, I picked up a second job as an instacart shopper.. to get extra cash

Me: HUSTLE! BABY!!! HUSTLEEEEEE!!!!!

BS: I would add that I paid the car off 10months earlier than planned. I think it’s Important for people to know that you don’t have to follow the set date that your debt collectors give you, it’s always good to pay it off earlier…

Well, because why not?

Me: 🥰🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🥰 (Mood)

BS: Dave Ramsey says it.. you have to live like no one else so you can live like no one else… !

And another thing is, I am not perfect.. I still buy random “stuff” every now and then.. but I know this race is not a sprint, it’s a marathon… pacing myself and attaining my goals

Plus if you have a fiance like mine who is a HUGE SAVER and IS DEBT FREE (Except his house) and is into money management, you too will adjust
